In a significant move forward towards making Andhra Pradesh as a world Green Energy Destination, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu has held discussions with Hon’ble Minister for Energy and Manpower, Republic of Singapore, Dr. Tan See Leng in Singapore on 28 July 2025. The gathering was an important revival of the bi-lateral energy and infrastructure co-operation.
Power to the Future: Green Hydrogen at heart
The prime mover in the conversation was Andhra Pradesh’s bold pioneering plan for India’s green hydrogen mission. CM Naidu laid down a roadmap to manufacture green hydrogen with the help of the potential of same of solar and wind energy of the state especially the Rayalaseema and Anantapur Region and Coastal.
Andhra Pradesh is all set to emerge as the global renewable energy-green hydrogen hub. We are on the road to constructing energy-secure, sustainable future with the global cooperation of its partners such as Singapore.
-- Chandrababu Naidu
Green hydrogen pilot projects have already been started by the state in Visakhapatnam (NTPC collaboration) and Kakinada, and it is in the process of establishing pumped-hydro storage systems with solar-wind hybrid clusters.
The Significance of Singapore
The interest to collaborate with Andhra Pradesh was high in Singapore as many companies were interested in the area of energy policy development and clean technology investments:
Dr. Tan See Leng recognized that Singapore was taking an active participation in green energy projects that were supported by the World Bank.
He has expressed his readiness to invest in cost effective production of green hydrogen, solar infrastructure facilities and energy transmission corridors in AP.
There was also a discussion around subsea cable networks to support AP’s growing energy export ambitions.
AP’s Green Energy Ambitions – By the Numbers
| Metric | Target / Progress |
|---|---|
| Solar + Wind Capacity | 160 GW (projected) |
| Hydrogen Export Corridors | 2 (Visakhapatnam, Kakinada) |
| Pumped Hydro Storage | Planned in Rayalaseema & Eastern Ghats |
| World Bank Partnership | In planning via Singapore support |
Rebuilding Trust with Global Partners
CM Naidu did not take long before settling earlier concerns by Singaporean investors, who had a hard time under the previous state government. He promised that there would be complete transparency and investor friendly reforms and proactive de-risking of clean energy investments in the state.
"We are building back trust with those that we do business with across the world, and Singapore is at the heart of it."
Naidu at the meeting
Naidu extended an official invitation to Minister Tan and Singapore's industry leaders to attend the Global Investors Summit scheduled in Visakhapatnam, November 2025. The summit will unveil:
- AP’s Green Hydrogen Export Policy
- The Solar Corridor Master Plan
- Investment-ready clean energy clusters
This renewed partnership signals a major green shift in South India’s energy landscape. Andhra Pradesh isn’t just chasing solar and hydrogen targets—it’s setting the stage to export clean energy and hydrogen fuels to the world, and Singapore is emerging as a key strategic ally in that vision.
The meeting with Dr. Tan See Leng could very well be the first step in building a Singavati-powered clean energy corridor, rooted in transparency, technology, and trust.
